After the age of 30 men begin to lose 1- 3% of their testosterone every year.

Low testosterone levels negatively impact almost every aspect of a man’s life.

Most men will experience low energy, low sex drive, poor sleep, and weight gain. This is known as Andropause or Low-T.

While most doctors are trained to treat menopause in women, millions of men are just left to suffer through Andropause.

Dr. William Newsome, our testosterone therapy doctor, offers the most up-to-date personalized treatment options for testosterone replacement and erectile dysfunction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Testosterone?2018-10-27T14:31:29-04:00

Testosterone is the male hormone. It’s what makes us men. Produced by the testes, it plays a crucial role in our everyday lives. Testosterone is directly responsible for maintaining:

  • Energy and strength
  • Muscle mass and bone density
  • Mental focus and clarity
  • Sex drive and performance
  • Mood and attitude
  • Sleep quality
Why is Testosterone so important for men?2018-10-27T14:33:00-04:00

Testosterone makes sure we have the energy and desire to succeed in work, life, and relationships. Without it, we lose our zest for life.

When we are young, our natural hormone production is high – especially testosterone. This kept us mentally sharp, energized, and strong. As we age, however, our natural hormone production declines. Yet modern life doesn’t slow down for anyone.

If you start to notice the typical signs of aging – increased fatigue, mental fogginess, mood changes, low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, decreased bone strength, weight gain, and loss of muscle mass – it’s possible you are experiencing a testosterone deficiency.

So guys, in order to maintain your health physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually, maintaining optimal testosterone levels is imperative.

What are the symptoms of Low-T?2018-10-27T14:34:51-04:00

By age 30, we lose at least 1% of our natural testosterone production each year – sometimes more. With this diminished supply of testosterone in our body, we may experience the following symptoms of low testosterone:

  • Feelings of depression
  • Lowered energy levels
  • Fatigue
  • Disruptive sleep patterns and quality of sleep
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Lack of mental clarity, drive and focus
  • Drop in strength and endurance
  • Mood swings
  • Fogginess and indecision
What are the benefits of Testosterone Replacement Therapy?2018-10-27T14:36:34-04:00

Given the importance of testosterone and the role it plays in making men “men,” TRT can serve as an effective option for men suffering from Low T. Though results may vary for each man, by optimizing testosterone to healthy levels the body can be replenished of this crucial hormone so that life can once again be lived with passion and purpose. If you are suffering from a testosterone deficiency, you may experience the following benefits of TRT:

  • Improved sexual desire, drive, frequency, and overall sexual performance
  • Lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) levels
  • Increased muscle mass and strength
  • Decreased body fat
  • Increased confidence and a more positive mood
  • Increased energy levels throughout the day
  • A better night’s sleep
  • Improved ability to handle stress
  • Improved brain function and concentration
How does Low-T Treatment work?2018-11-07T18:46:32-05:00

Within our program, we use three different types of medicine to ensure that every patient achieves success. These medications include the following:

Testosterone is used to increase and optimize testosterone levels. The dosage varies and is determined by the prescribing physician. Patients’ medical history, lab results, and physical are all factored in during diagnosis.

HCG is used to prevent testicular shrinkage and maintain natural production of testosterone within the testes.

An Estrogen Blocker is used to control the levels of estrogen within the body. Yes, men have estrogen as well, and some men have high levels naturally. Other men may see an increase after being placed on the program. Elevated estrogen levels can cause unwanted belly fat, breast fat, mood swings and loss of libido. Estrogen has a tendency to work against the male hormone. This is why at Level Up Testosterone Replacement closely monitors estrogen levels to ensure they are kept low in our patients.

Is testosterone replacement therapy safe?2018-10-27T14:40:58-04:00

Most of the stuff you may have heard about testosterone causing heart attacks or anything else bad is horribly, horribly wrong. If anything, men with low testosterone levels are much more prone to a host of maladies, including heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and pretty much everything else usually associated with old age, death, or decrepitude in males.

TRT causes very few negative side effects. There are a couple of things that can happen when on TRT. One is only an issue in men with existing prostate cancer. Note that there’s absolutely no evidence – even after researchers have compiled thousands of studies and patient histories – that TRT can cause prostate cancer. However, TRT can make prostate cancer worse. That’s why it’s important to have digital rectal exams (DREs) every year while continuing to monitor prostate specific antigens (PSA).

TRT can also cause a condition called polycythemia, which simply means that the testosterone therapy has caused your body to produce too many red blood cells. Instead of freely flowing through your veins, your blood gets thick and spurts along like the stuff that comes out of the Dairy Queen soft serve machine and it can understandably cause heart attacks and strokes when it clogs up your plumbing. That’s why it is important for Dr. Newsome to monitor your hemoglobin. The solution is simple! If hemoglobin exceeds 18.0, or hematocrit exceeds approximately 50.0, you may need to donate some blood to the Red Cross, or submit yourself for what’s called therapeutic phlebotomy (a simple blood draw in a doctor’s office).

Does Testosterone Replacement Therapy cause Gynecomastia and Hair Loss?2018-10-27T14:43:57-04:00

The much-dreaded gynecomastia is almost unheard of in males receiving TRT. Gynecomastia, or the growth of male breast tissue, is seen almost exclusively in men taking pro-bodybuilder levels of testosterone (1,000 to 3,000 mg. a week) which we would not prescribe at Level Up.

Hair loss is a possibility, but if you’ve made it to your 30’s without losing your hair, it’s highly doubtful that TRT will make things any worse.

What is Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?2018-10-27T14:46:18-04:00

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is when a man has regular and repeated issues achieving or maintaining an erection. There are many factors that go into ED, and it’s not always mind over matter.

Level up Testosterone Replacement has seen hundreds of patients who suffer from ED.  Through various testing, we have found a common denominator. These men generally suffer from significantly low testosterone levels and often have a high estrogen level (female hormone). In our program, we successfully increase testosterone levels and decrease estrogen levels with prescription medication. The results have been outstanding in most cases. We may also consider the addition of Viagra, Cialis and other treatments if needed.
